This quick and easy updo is perfect if you have short hair. The goal is to create a top knot. Start by pulling your hair back into a ponytail and then split the hair in the ponytail into two sections. Braid each section, twist the two braids together, wrap the twisted braids around the base of the ponytail, and then secure with bobby pins. Voila!

French Braid Updo

This style looks complicated but it’s actually quite simple. Start by French braiding your hair, either at an angle or down the center of the head. Then, at the bottom of the braid, twist the braid into a bun, anchoring it in place with bobby pins. This is one of the best updos for short hair, as it gives the appearance that there is more hair than there actually is.

Ponytail Updo

This updo is great if you don’t have a lot of time or patience. Start by smoothing your hair back into a high ponytail. Secure it with an elastic. Then, curl small chunks of the ponytail towards the head and pin it in place. If you don’t have a curling iron, you can use a simple hot or cold roller instead or create the curls using your fingers.

Twist and Pin

This messy but elegant look is perfect for an evening out. Start by pulling your hair back into a low side ponytail. Next, split the ponytail into two sections and twist them away from each other. Secure the twist using a hair elastic and place it towards the back of the head. Then add bobby pins for extra security.

No matter what your hair length is, there are plenty of easy updos for short hair that you can create quickly and easily. Try one of these four styles and you will be sure to turn some heads!
