Posted on

There’s no denying that metallic and molten motifs can add a lot of wow factor to any nail art project. If you’ve been wanting to try your hand at a dripping metal manicure, but aren’t really sure where to start then this tutorial is for you! Here we will break down the steps and strategies for crafting this amazing nail art looks.

Step one: Gather your supplies

Before you begin any nail art project, it is important to make sure you have all the supplies you need ahead of time. For this project, you will need:

  • A base coat/top coat
  • A glitter polish for the drip effect
  • A few different metallic polishes
  • A thin brush (for detailing or touching up around the edges)
  • A few cotton swabs

Step two: Paint the base

The next step to creating this awesome molten metal look is to paint the base of your nails. Start off with a layer of base coat, and depending on the look you are going for you can choose to paint one solid metallic manicure, or you can mix it up and do a different metallic nail for each finger. For this design, a few different metallics were used to create the look.

Once you have the base of your nails completely dry, you are ready to start adding in the details of your metal drip nails!

Step three: Create the drips

Your metal drips will come in a few distinct parts. You will need to paint a thin line of your glitter polish carefully along the edge of your nails, and then to create the drips you will need to use a few different metallic polishes. Carefully paint thin streaks from the edge of your nails downwards, and then use your thin brush to lightly blend the edges of the drips and give them more of a drip-like appearance.

The last step is to wait until your design is completely dry before you add on your top coat. This will help to give your nails a bit more shine and ensure that your design stays put.

Finishing touches:

After you’ve completed your amazing molten metal drip nails, you can add in some extra sparkle. Try going over the glitter lines with a thin brush and some extra glitter polish, and then use some small metallic dots to fill out your look. With some practice, you will have created a beautiful and dramatic look that will turn heads wherever you go.
